Friday Speech delivered by Imam Hashmi

Imam Hashmi talked about the childhood of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) from one years old up to 8 years. He mentioned some very heart touching stories one of which was when the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) went out to play with his sister Sheema, Hadhrat Halimah (RA) shouted at Sheema for taking him(peace be upon him) out in the heat of the sun. Sheema replied, ‘mum don’t worry, when my brother goes out, a cloud forms above him to give him shade, as he moves forward the cloud follows him and continues to give him shade.’ As the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) would walk in the jungles, the animals would kiss his feet. Hadhrat Halimah (RA) returned the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to his mother, Hadhrat Amina (RA) at the age of 6. Hadhrat Amina (RA) took the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to his father’s grave, upon returning home at the place of Abwa, she passed away. After that, the grandfather of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) took care of him until he was 8 years old, he passed away then his uncle Hadhrat Abu Talib (RA) – father of 4th Caliph of Islam, Hadhrat Ali (RA), took care of him. Makkah once faced a drought, the people gathered and decided to pray to the idols for rain; one man spoke out and said not to do that, but to go to one of the descendants of Hadhrat Ibrahim (As) and Hadhrat Isma’il (AS) and ask him to pray. So they went to Hadhrat Abu Talib (RA), who took the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to the Kabah and asked him to pray for rain. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) placed his back on the wall of the kaba and prayed for rain and it immediately started to rain, the drought was gone. From these events, it became known that he was not an ordinary child, he was someone special. The environment around him, the moon, stars, animals, trees etc all recognised him as the final and beloved Messenger of Allah. We should practise the peaceful messages of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), so we make our communities a place of peace.
